6 Upcoming Hatchback, Sedan and SUV in India | From RediGo to Sonet

Despite the year 2020 taking a huge toll on the Indian automotive sector, carmakers are now resuming operations and preparing for new car launches. Here are 6 upcoming hatchbacks, sedan and SUV cars in India for the year 2020.

  1. 2020 Datsun Redi Go

    Nissan budget sub-brand; Datsun is preparing for the launch of the 2020 Datsun RediGo. Very recently, pictures of what looked like a product catalogue for the 2020 RediGo was leaked online.

    The picture reveals an all-new front grille which is extended with an octagonal design that goes right to the front bumper. A major highlight is the L-shaped Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs). The 2020 Datsun RediGo will be offered in four variants; “D”, “A”, “T” and “T(O)”.

    The new Redi-Go will be offered with a BS6 Compliant 0.8 and 1.0-litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT option.

    Good news! The 2020 Hyundai i20 has been confirmed for a launch this year in Diwali. On the outside, the new Hyundai i20 2020 features blacked-out cascading grille, sharp-looking headlamps with LED DRLs surrounding the housing. The bumper has also been redesigned to look more aggressive.

    On the Inside, we will get to see a four-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel that looks very similar to the recently launched Hyundai Creta. The car also gets steering-mounted audio and cruise control, a fully digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display. In the middle, the i20 gets an integrated 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The new i20 also gets a Bose music system and the iconic Hyundai BlueLink connect.

    The new i20 will get 3 driving modes; Normal, Eco and Sport. The digital dashboard will light up Blue in Normal mode, Green in Eco (Economy) mode and Orange in the Sport mode.

  3. Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI

    The sedan will be powered by a BS6 compliant 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine which will be replacing the current TDI and MPI engines. It can produce 113.42hp of power and a peak torque of 200Nm. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG.

    Zac Hollis, director, sales, service and marketing, Škoda Auto India said that the state-of-the-art 1.0-litre TSI engine will offer remarkable fuel efficiency and excellent power output.

  4. 2020 Honda City

    Another most awaited car launch is the 2020 Honda City. Honda enthusiasts all over India are eye the launch of the new generation Honda City. In another report, Honda stated that it will continue selling the New Honda City with the Old one. The 2020 Honda City will get a 1.50-litre i-VTEC Petrol and 1.5-litre Earth Dreams Diesel engine producing 121bhp and 100 bhp respectively.   5. Kia Sonet

    The upcoming Kia Sonet will be powered by a1.2-litre Kappa Petrol (81hp) and 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol (121hp) engine. On the Outside, we will get to see Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille along with a very compact and sporty design. additionally, the front will be complemented by the all-new LED headlamps and fog lamps down at the bottom.

    On the safety front, the car might borrow it from the venue which might include, ABS, EBD, ESP, and a couple of airbags as standard and the top end trim to get more safety features.

    According to leading media reports Kia is also planning to sell almost 70,000 units of the Sonet sub-4 metre SUV in the first year itself.

  6. MG Hector Plus

    On the outside, the MG Hector Plus will feature are some minor tweaks here and there are visible though. The most prominent change is the all-black grille. The Hector Plus now gets thicker LED DRLs, a revamped front bumper, a new set of headlights and fog lamps, reworked tail-lights, all-new dual-exhaust design. The extra overhung is visible at the rear due to the 40mm extra length.

    The MG Hector Plus will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 141hp and 250Nm of peak torque.

    Coming to the Inside, the Hector plus three-row hector features two individual captain seats for the 6-seat variant and a bench seat on the third-row for the 7-seat variant. Other than that everything pretty much remains the same.
