5 Things You Need To Know About The Volkswagen Virtus

The Volkswagen Vento has been in the Indian market for a very long time, but it hasn’t received any major updates that shook the audience. Now finally, VW is finally replacing the Vento with the all new Virtus. The Virtus is going to be a bigger, better looking and more premium replacement of the Vento. Here are 5 things you need to know about the upcoming VW Virtus!

  1. What’s different on the outside?

The new Virtus will have a completely transformed look as compared to the Vento. It gets a front design that is inspired by the all new 2021 Polo that has was unveiled in foreign markets. The Virtus is going to sit on the same MQB AO IN platform that we see on the VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. From what we saw on the test cars, the Virtus looks significantly bigger than the Vento, which is a good sign considering that the Vento was never known for its rear seat space and comfort.

  1. Virtus Interiors

On the inside, it follows the steps of the Taigun and get an all new infotainment unit. It will boast a digital driver’s unit, or as VW calls it, the virtual cockpit. With the size getting bigger on the outside, we expect it to be the same on the inside. The Virtus will be much better than the Vento in terms of cabin space and comfort.

  1. Features on the Virtus

The Virtus will also be more equipped with the latest tech and features. A 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment unit, virtual cockpit, keyless start, 6 airbags, connected car tech are a few of the things that we will see on the Virtus.

  1. What’s under the hood?

On the performance front, it is expected to have the same power trains that we see on the Taigun. Namely, a 1L turbo petrol and a 1.5L TSI engine. The 1L will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. The 1.5TSI will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Performance is something that we loved about the Vento, and we are sure that the Virtus will also set a new standard in the segment.

  1. When will it come to India?

Volkswagen India says that the Vento replacement is all set to hit the Indian roads by April 2022. The pricing is expected to lie somewhere in between Rs-12-15 Lakhs.
