The German automaker Volkswagen is ready with the India 2.0 project. Under this project, they will launch the Taigun mid-size SUV in India. The second product under this project will be the Volkswagen Vento. The next generation of the Volkswagen Vento will rival the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna.
The next-gen Hyundai Verna will be launched in India around 2021. We can expect the new Volkswagen Vento to arrive in India at the same time as well. Read on to find some interesting details about the upcoming sedan that we have compiled exclusively for you!
The new Volkswagen Vento will be based on the MQB A0-IN platform. This platform is shared from the Taigun. Also, the new Skoda Rapid will also underpin the same platform. Volkswagen is planning to obtain most of the parts locally. We can expect 90-95% of the assembly to be manufactured within the country only.
The Volkswagen Vento sedan is expected to have features like the virtual cockpit and the VW play infotainment system with the Taigun. We already reported about the Polo Sedan and we have high expectations that the Vento will get the styling elements based on the Polo Sedan only. This car is also expected to get a lot of chrome elements just the way the Indian audience likes it.
Powering the Volkswagen Vento will be 1.0-litre turbo petrol i.e. 1.0-litre TSI engine. This 3 cylinder engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The good news is that the engine and the transmission will be manufactured locally. We can, therefore, expect the pricing to be really competitive towards the rivals. We can expect the launch by 2022.
