Maruti Suzuki to launch Tiago EV Rival | Wagon R EV?

You know why Maruti Suzuki is considered to be the smartest player in the Indian automobile industry. Let me tell you why! The Indo-Japanese carmaker has been testing electric vehicles since 2018. However, We always wondered why Maruti was hesitant on being the first carmaker to launch an EV in India. The answer to this question is Maruti was waiting for the right time. After observing the market stature of Tata/MG and Mahindra. Maruti has finally decided to step into the EV market with not one not two but 6 electric vehicles.

For starters, the brand is all set on finally launching the Wagon R EV which will make its debut by the end of this year and will rival the likes of the Citroen eC3 and the Tata Tiago EV.

  • Well, not only that apart from the Wagon R EV, but Maruti also plans upon adding 5 other electric vehicles to its portfolio by 2023.

  • With that, Maruti has also teased its future EV lineup via its social media handles.
  • The new Wagon R EV is likely to be based on the modified version of the brand’s iconic  HEARTECT platform also used by the eVX showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo.
  • The new Wagon R EV rival is also likely to be priced under ₹10 lakhs closely undercutting its rival, the Tata Tiago EV.
  •  Going by certain media reports it is also speculated that the new Maruti EV will offer an ARAI-certified range of 315kms on a single charge.
  • Coming to cosmetic changes, It is very likely to resemble the likes of its Japanese cousin.
  • Although, going by the outline visible on the creative, It is very likely that it could be the current gen Wagon R but with some minor cosmetic updates.
