BS4 | Initiating the change
BS4 bought a bunch of changes to then existed BS3 engines to comply with the norms. In 2017 the change from BS3 to BS4 somewhat shook the automotive industry. The changes were subtle and not much had changed in the powertrain department of the vehicle, except the exhaust system which had undergone some tweaks.
BS6 | The epitome of change
The transition from BS4 to BS6 has severely rocked the automotive industry. The changes include in all the powertrains be it diesel or petrol. Diesel having more prominent changes in which petrol following with changes more related to the exhaust system.

Effects of BS6 on CNG
Although there are changes in the engine, there are n effects on the BS6 engine running on CNG. Similar to petrol the engine will undergo the same changes. These changes include.
- Adding a more precise and updated electronic injection system (EFI)
- Introduction of Advanced OBD (On-Board Diagnostics)
- Adding a couple of filtering layers in the catalytic converter in the exhaust system.
- The ECU will be tuned to run on the new cleaner fuel with a higher octane number.
CNG is a cleaner and high octane fuel, it will have no effects on the engine. Running a BS6 petrol vehicle on CNG will be no different.
