Is The Upcoming XUV 700 Actually Worth The Wait?

Ever since Mahindra has announced the XUV 700, avid fans of the SUV are waiting patiently for the brand to push the vehicle in the market. But with several competing vehicles already in the market, the biggest question in the minds of potential SUV buyers is whether the XUV 700 is worth the wait, or competitors like the Safari or Hector Plus. Well, let’s find out.

The Looks

With new spy images of the XUV 700 out, the vehicle is finally seen in an un-camouflaged avatar.  And with images out, features like C-shaped integrated LED DRLs, teardrop headlamps and a blackened out grille are all confirmed.

Around the rear is where the XUV has changed the most, featuring a roofline slope, large wrap around tail lamps with angular details and a stock roof spoiler. There is a new set of alloys on offer as well. In totality, when it comes to the looks of the XUV, it seems as if it isn’t a true evolution. Rather what it can be called is refreshment over what the XUV 500 offered.

On the other hand, when it comes to the Safari/Hector Plus, both vehicles offer looks that go well with the overall feel of the vehicle. While the Safari’s look is undoubtedly a superb evolution, the Hector Plus too establishes itself as a modern-looking SUV that gets several smart and trendy design cues. As compared to the XUV 500’s looks, the XUV 700’s looks are quite polarizing. So if you’re an avid XUV fan and looking to bring home the new XUV 700, then the looks might disappoint you.

Solely based on looks, therefore, it would be no harm, choosing the Safari/Hector Plus over the XUV 700.

Features and Offerings

Keeping looks aside, features are a strong suit of the XUV 700 for sure.  As per known information, the XUV 700 is sure to be equipped with several premium inclusions such as integrated infotainment and driver’s display, high-beam assist, 360-degree cameras, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, built-in air filter and front ventilated seats among a host of other offerings onboard.

That’s not all the XUV 700 will also be India’s first SUV to offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in its segment. This means that the XUV 700 will offer advanced features such as lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking etc.

Mahindra’s Adreno X

Additionally, Mahindra has also announced that the upcoming vehicle will also feature the AdrenoX, intelligent cockpit technology that will offer smart AI functionality onboard the vehicle. Collaborations have also been made with Amazon to offer build-in Alexa functionality. Sound buffs will also be able to enjoy Sony’s 3D sound technology onboard the XUV 700.

Considering the XUV 700’s host of premium features on offer, it would be a sin not to wait for the official launch of the XUV 700. Because no matter how promising the competition is, in-cabin features, comfort and overall experience can truly enhance your driving experience and we mean it.

Powertrain

Talking about the powertrain, both the Hector Plus and the upcoming XUV 700 have both petrol and diesel power train on offer. The Safari on the other hand comes only with a diesel burner. Thus, if a petrol powertrain is your thing, then the Safari is out of the question. But whether or not the XUV 700 will be worth it can only be determined when official mileage and specs are out.

The Bottom Line

In-cabin features, comfort and a powerful powertrain are what makes the XUV 700 definitely worth the wait. The competition, however, is also quite strong with both the Safari and Hector Plus offering a bang for your bucks.
