5 Reasons Why We Want The Toyota Yaris Hatchback In India

Toyota’s C segment sedan, the Yaris was launched back in 2018 and it was positioned just below the Corolla Altis. The sales numbers that we have seen with the Yaris aren’t that encouraging. This is majorly because the Yaris is not as feature loaded as it’s competitors, especially considering the fact that it costs between Rs.10-15 Lakhs. The second reason the Yaris isn’t topping the sales charts is that it does not have the option of a diesel engine, which completely takes it off the list for a major chunk of buyers. However, we do believe that it is a car with tons of potential which deserves a hatchback variant.

We have seen spy shots of the Yaris hatchback being tested in India a few times now. However, there’s no clarity from Toyota about a launch in India yet. Here are 5 reasons why we are waiting for the Yaris Hatchback so eagerly.

  1. Already much loved Yaris

Those who bought the Yaris can hands down say that it is one of the best cars they have owned. It is supremely comfortable in its ride and has a strong built. It is a go to car if you’re looking for something to be driven in.

  1. Toyota’s Legendary Reliability

Toyota is known all around the world for its ultra-reliable cars. There are literally millions of Toyotas that have crossed the 100,000KM mark on the odometer but they still run as they did on the first day! This paired with the very reasonable service costs makes Toyota a very reliable and trustworthy automaker in the eyes of the audience.

  1. Unrivalled Comfort

The Yaris was undoubtedly one of the most comfortable cabins to be in, and we expect the same from its smaller hatchback variant. Although we do have some comfort-oriented cars in the segment, we do believe that Toyota can do a better job than most of them when it comes to riding quality and comfort.

  1. No Toyota Premium Hatchback in the market

While the Glanza is technically a Toyota in the premium hatchback market, it is not truly a Toyota. Everyone knows that its just a rebadged Maruti Baleno. We want to see a true Toyota car in the premium hatchback segment!

  1. Discontinuation of Liva and Etios

There is virtually no Toyota cars in the sub-Rs. 10 lakh category (apart from Glanza) since the Etios and the Liva have been discontinued in 2020. The Yaris hatchback will surely create a buzz in this segment if Toyota plays its cards right.
