The Japanese carmaker Toyota has a class-leading vehicle lineup across the globe. This line-up has set up its ground in the entire world. Well, all the automakers in the world are facing problems due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, including Toyota. In spite of this, the Japanese car manufacturer is at the right foot and teased its latest mid-sized SUV the Harrier.
Harrier?? Yes, you read it right! Just to make it clear Toyota Harrier has no relation with the Tata Harrier. Toyota has an SUV named Harrier in the international market that first debuted in 1997. Let us have a look at what the new Harrier has to offer.
Powertrain and Transmission
We can expect Toyota to offer a couple of engine options one being a naturally aspirated engine and the other its traditional Hybrid Powertrain.
- A 2.0-Litre DI (Direct Injected) Dynamic Force naturally aspirated engine. The heart of the vehicle is capable of producing 170hp of power and about 203Nm of peak torque.
- On the other front, we can expect a hybrid powertrain form Toyota Camry. That is a 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a motor to have a combined power output of about 209hp.
- There will only be an option for an automatic transmission.
Design Cues
Like the other Toyota, the Harrier will also follow the edgy design.
- An all-LED headlight with sharp lining which is beautifully integrated into the front chrome grille.
- In the front, the grille is a bold thick chrome that gives the car its crossover appeal.
- As we move to the rear the car has a sloping roof which gives the car sporty yet elegant looks.
- At the rear, Toyota Harrier gets a big Toyota logo which separates the long taillight strip which runs across the boot. Well, the long light strip which adds to the old school design making the car even more elegant.
- At the top, we can also expect a panoramic sunroof.

Launch Date
It is difficult to say when the car will be launching or rather if in total will it be launching in the Indian market. But if it arrives in India it will rival the likes of the upcoming MG Gloster, BMW X1. You might have to pay a premium as the Toyota cars cost a tad bit more than rivals. Is it is justifiable?
