Toyota has finally revealed its smallest SUV for the European market. The Toyota Yaris Cross has finally broken cover. Toyota has designed the small SUV keeping the European people in mind. Therefore, it will have a hybrid technology as well as an all-wheel-drive system. The automaker had earlier planned to unveil the Yaris Cross at the Geneva Motor Show but there is no update on the show due to the ongoing pandemic.

Following the trend, Toyota also revealed the Yaris Cross through its official website. Online car launches have become a new trend nowadays as most parts of the world is observing a lockdown. This car has a lot in common with the Yaris supermini hatchback. The new Yaris Cross is positioned under the Toyota CHR globally.

In terms of design, the Toyota Yaris Cross borrows design cues from the CHR and the recently revealed Harrier. It has got a high ground clearance and chunky wheel arches add up to its SUV stance. The top-spec trims are expected to have unique paint schemes and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, this crossover gets ambient lighting and a free-standing infotainment system. It borrows many elements from the Yaris Hatchback on the inside too.

Talking about the performance, the Toyota Yaris Cross gets power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine connected to an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. The three-cylinder engine develops 79 bhp and 139.7 Nm of peak torque to form a hybrid system. It has got inbuilt sensors which can switch to AWD once they detect a poor grip. This SUV is then ready to tackle different terrains like sand, rain and snow.
Toyota Yaris Cross has no plans of coming to India as of now. In the global market, the Yaris Cross is ready to stand against the Nissan Juke and the European spec Renault Captur.
