Tata Motors is already ahead in the EV race. And now, their vision on EVs is looking even more vital as they will improve the Nexon EV range in the second half of this year. With this update, they will be improving Nexon EV’s range by adding a bigger battery pack. A few cosmetic changes will also be present to distinguish the normal range and long-range versions of the Nexon EV.
Read on to learn more about this new update, like the Nexon EV range, price expectations, battery pack size, and more.
Nexon EV Range – Bigger Battery, More Range, More Power, Faster Charging, But Less Boot Space!
Range
The range will improve due to a bigger battery pack. The current battery pack offered in the Nexon EV is 30.2 kWh. This is expected to change to 40 kWh in the new version of the Nexon EV. The range is expected to take a jump to 400 kms.
Battery pack and 0-100 time
Since the battery pack would change, the power output figures would also positively impact. The 30.2 kWh battery pack is already punchy enough with loads of instant torque available. It has a 0-100 km/h time of 9.9 seconds. The expected 0-100 km/h timing of the new Nexon EV would be around 8.5 seconds.
Although, accommodating the larger battery pack (as it would take more space) might come at the cost of a decreased boot space.
Charging Pack
The charging pack is likely to include a standard 3.3 kW charger and an optional 6.6 kW charger to charge the larger battery.
Nexon EV Price – Expected To Increase By 3 Lakhs More! But Will Still Sell The Existing Normal Range Model
The Nexon EVs price is expected to be hiked by around 3 lakhs, which would mean that the long-range version will cost around 18 lakhs INR. However, Tata will sell both the normal and long-range models of the Nexon EV alongside each other. So those who want a cheaper option can opt for the current version.
Subsidies-
Many states have a subsidy on EVs, which reduces the price of the Nexon EV as well. However, the Delhi government earlier removed this subsidy on the complaint of users that the EV had a poor real-life range. With the introduction of a larger battery pack, the government might re-introduce this scheme, making it a bit more affordable.
Exterior & Interior: Will Have No Major Exterior Updates!
As per spy shots of the 2022 Nexon EV, there will be no significant changes on the exterior. Although there will be a few cosmetic changes to differentiate between the small and long-range versions.
The Interior of the Nexon EV should be changed to ultimately justify its asking price of 3 lakhs more! Additions of a few more features are expected to set itself in line with the competition.
