Another month, another sales report. This time we have India’s very own SUV maker Mahindra in the house. Here’s how the OEM did in October 2022; the month of festivities.

With the likes of Scorpio N, Thar, XUV 700 and XUV 300 up its sleeve, Mumbai-based Mahindra and Mahindra announced a total sale of 61,114 vehicles for the festive month of October 2022.

Breaking up the big number, the passenger car segment that includes UVs, cars and vans sold a huge 32,298 vehicles while utility vehicles alone clocked in as many as 32,226 units which is a 60.45% growth for the company on a YoY basis as compared to the 20,034 units sold in October 2021. This has proudly made the OEM the biggest SUV seller in India for the 2nd time in a row.

But what’s even better for Mahindra is its Year to Date number (YTD) which has swung up by 78% YoY with 1,99,278 units (YTD in FY23) over 1,12,050 units (YTD in FY22). While Cars and Vans including KUV 100, Marazzo and e-Verito don’t account for significant sales, even then the YTD in FY23 stood at 1,743 units, up from 1,435 units clocking a green growth of 77% despite a YoY decline of 25%. YTD sales in FY23 for Mahindra finally crossed the 2 lakh threshold when compared to 1,13,485 units sold a year ago in FY22, clocking in an impressive 77% growth.

Exports
Coming to exports, the month of October did not bring much luck, with 2,755 units exported as compared to the 3,174 units exported a year ago marking a 13% YoY decline. However, YTD export sales in FY 23 went up to 18,511 units up from 17,553 units a year ago, accounting for little growth of about 5%.
Celebrations for Mahindra
While the export and cars + vans segment did show a bit of a decline, overall the festive month of October has brought a lot of luck for the OEM. According to the President of, the Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., Veejay Nakra, “Our sales volume continued to grow in October on the back of strong festive demand. We sold 32,226 SUVs in October, registering a growth of 61% fuelled by robust demand across our portfolio”.
