Bentley’s first electric SUV is on its way, set to launch before 2026—and they’re calling it the “world’s first true luxury urban SUV.” Bold words, right? But Bentley’s not just throwing buzzwords around, they’re creating a whole new segment with this one.
Inside the Teaser: What Bentley’s Electric SUV Might Look Like
In a recent teaser, Bentley gave us a sneak peek, showing off the car’s roofline and side profile. They’re keeping most of the details under wraps, but one thing’s clear: it’s going to be compact and luxe, designed and built right at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe.
The new electric Bentley will be what they’re calling a “segment-straddling crossover”—basically, picture a smaller Bentayga, less than five meters long. It’s Bentley’s smallest car yet, but it’s still got that big Bentley energy.
The Tech Behind It
Bentley’s tapping into the Volkswagen Group’s PPE platform for this SUV. Audi and Porsche put their heads together to create this platform, already been tried out in models like the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV. Bentley’s CEO, Frank-Steffen Walliser, made it clear they’re not just repackaging what’s out there—they’re taking this platform and making it pure Bentley.
Bentley’s Bigger EV Game Plan
Bentley had initially aimed for 2025 for its first EV, promising one new electric model every year through 2030. This is all part of their “Beyond100+” strategy—a roadmap for a greener, more sustainable Bentley, tweaked from the original “Beyond100” plan they announced in 2020. “We’re shaping Bentley for a very different future,” says Walliser, hinting at the big shifts they’re making to stay ahead in the EV game.
A Different Kind of Luxury EV
Bentley’s making a clear choice with this “urban SUV”—a vehicle in its own lane, away from electric coupes like the Rolls-Royce Spectre. Bentley’s SUV promises a new breed of city luxury, combining Bentley’s classic vibe with a modern, eco-friendly twist.
