The good news is just around the corner for all EV fans. The launch of the Atto 3 Electric SUV from the house of the world’s largest EV OEM, Build Your Dreams has been preponed! The EV will now debut during the festive season, instead of its 2023 launch date. Here’s everything you need to know about the SUV’s arrival.
The Atto 3 Electric SUV
To be manufactured at its Sriperumbudur facility near Chennai, BYD’s Atto 3 electric SUV is a rather interesting product for the Indian market. Unveiled earlier this year, the Atto 3 is priced somewhere around the 25-30 Lakh mark in the International market, which could also hold true for the Indian market and from the looks of it, it seems that the BYD will lock horns with EVs such as the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona and the newest Nexon EV Max.

How Does It Pitch Against The Competition?
Comparing the Atto 3 with the competitors, it holds a serious power advantage as it can sprint from 0 to 100 in mere 7.3 seconds, which is much faster than its competitors and even the more expensive KIA EV6 GT Line. In terms of mechanics, the Atto 3 derives power from a single PMS motor that returns a massive 204 HP and 310 NM.
There would be 2 battery packs on offer – a 49.92 kWh pack and a 60.48 kWh which are not only bigger than the competitors but also consume a higher power supply of 80 kW DC thus charging in under an hour. Range-wise, the Atto 3 has a claimed range of 480 km on a full charge. However, what works wonders for the SUV is the fact that a 1-hour break from the trip can top it up to 100%.

The Technology and Features Offered
The Atto 3 uses what the OEM terms as ‘Blade Battery’ technology that makes the battery pack durable for all kinds of weather. Other than the DC fast charging, the SUV can also be charged from a regular 3-pin household AC socket or a Type-2 AC charger.
In terms of features, the Atto 3 will bring onboard ADAS features such as “radar-based stop-and-go”, fully adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear cross-traffic braking.
Other goodies onboard will include features like 18-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps, electric front seats, 12.8-inch rotating touch infotainment, electric tailgate, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting and much more. Safety-wise, the EV will be well equipped with 7 airbags, ESP, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
