1. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
   

   Starting with the one in the most cut-throat segment, the Grand Vitara. The Vitara was launched on 26th September and sits against the Creta, Seltos, Taigun, Kushaq, and MG Astor. What sets the Vitara apart is that it gets a hybrid variant. Moreover, it is Maruti’s most expensive and most feature-loaded car to date! Priced between Rs. 10-20 Lakhs, the Vitara is an excellent option from a very reliable brand.

2. Volkswagen Virtus 
   

   One of only two sedans on this list of top 10 cars launched in 2022 is the Virtus. The market for sedans has gone down, but the Virtus might just change that. This powerhouse gets a strong 1.5L turbocharged engine that makes 150HP and 250nm. The numbers are more than enough for a car of this size on Indian roads. With VW’s DSG gearbox, excellent handling, and stability, the Virtus can easily touch the 200 km/hr mark. Keeping performance aside, it also gets a 1L engine option that is paired to either a 6-speed manual/AT. Overall, the Virtus is a very good option for people who love the looks of a sedan.

   

3. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
   

   The Baleno has been one of the best-selling cars in the premium hatchback segment. It is one of the most VFM cars on this list of top 10 cars launched in 2022! While the top trims are loaded with features like a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display, the mid-level trims are also decently loaded. The only gripe we have with this car is that Maruti moved from a CVT transmission to an AMT unit for the automatic variants.

4. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 
   

   Next up on this list of the top 10 cars launched in 2022 is the Toyota Hyryder. It is the corporate twin of the Grand Vitara, but it looks a bit different. The Hyryder looks a bit more stylish and modern and the overall design is well done. On the inside, it gets a brack and brown treatment, and this is the only difference between these two SUVs. Just like the Vitara, the Hyryder also gets a strong hybrid system capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of over 20 KM/L.

   

5. Honda City eHEV
   

   Another hybrid on this list of top 10 cars launched in 2022! The Honda City eHEV was quietly launched in May 2022. It gets strong hybrid tech along with added features like auto hold and an automatic parking brake. It also gets ADAS features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

   

6. Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Yes, the diesel engine is missed dearly, but the petrol is also selling just as well. With the 2022 update, the Brezza became the first-ever Maruti car that got a sunroof. It also got features like a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a 9-inch infotainment screen. Moreover, the automatic variant of the Brezza finally got an update. It now gets a 6-speed torque converter AT instead of the old 4-speed AT.

   

7. Tata Nexon EV Max

The Nexon EV was launched a while back, but people weren’t too impressed with the claimed 312 km range. In real life, the car was only able to deliver 250-270 KMs on a single charge. To fix this problem, Tata introduced the MAX variant which got a bigger 40.5kWh battery. Tata claims that the Max variant can drive 437KMs on a single charge. In real life, even if the EV delivers 380-400 KMs, it is still a substantial improvement over the regular Nexon EV.

   

8. Tata Tiago EV
   

   The next EV on this list of top 10 cars launched in 2022 is also from Tata. What makes the Tata Tiago EV exciting is that it is currently the cheapest EV in India. Starting at Rs. 8.49 Lakhs, this is an excellent option for someone looking for a future-ready first car. The Tiago EV gets two battery options, a 19.2kWh, and a 24kWh. The smaller battery can do 250KMs on a single charge and the bigger can do 315KMs. These numbers may seem low but are more than enough for 4-5 days of city driving.

9. Hyundai Tucson 
   

   The Hyundai Tucson is one of the most underrated cars on this list of the top 10 cars launched in 2022. Yes, it sits in a pricier segment, but it is an excellent option for someone looking to spend ~Rs. 40 Lakhs. It gets a powerful 185HP diesel engine, it gets Level-2 ADAS technology, it looks sleek and modern, and it also gets a 4WD system. It is a much more value-for-money option than the Toyota Fortuner unless you absolutely need 7 seats.

   

10. Mahindra Scorpio N
    

    The most exciting one on this list of top 10 cars launched in 2022! The Mahindra Scorpio-N was launched in June 2022 and was an instant hit. It garnered over 1,00,000 bookings within a few hours. What makes it desirable is the fact that it looks huge, it gets a proper 4×4 system, and it is also loaded with features. Moreover, it gets the same 185HP diesel and 200HP petrol engine that we saw on the XUV700.
