After numerous spies and many dealership inaugurations, at last, the French car manufacturer ‘Citroen’ rolls its first C5 Aircross SUV off the production line. For you to know, the assembly of the Citroen C5 Aircross is done at the CK Birla Facility in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.
A thing to note is that alongside producing its first vehicle off the line, Citroen also spilt some beans on new features the SUV will possess. Moreover, the other essential details will be out on 1st February where the C5 will be seen in the flesh.
Combining all the resources here is what we know so far.
C5 Aircross is powered by a Diesel Engine
Popping the hood open, we’ll witness a new 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine.
- This refined motor is capable of producing a peak power of 180hp along with a max torque of 400Nm.
- Unfortunately, the transmission channelizes the power from the engine to only the front wheels.
- Speaking of which, the motor comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which is a torque converter. And there is no manual transmission on offer as of now.
A unique feature about the transmission assembly is that the shifter is ride by wire. This is where the gearshift is electronically connected with the transmission instead of a wired or mechanical connection.
That said, Citroen claims this will reduce the overall NVH levels inside the cabin in conjunction to complementing the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
Features? Its Fully Loaded!
Talk creature comforts or safety features, Citroen C5 Aircross has got it covered. Considering the former, Citroen C5 offers:
- Panoramic Sunroof
- A massive 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster
- Hands-free boot release
- An 8-inch infotainment system with connected features
- Drive Modes
Shifting the focus to the safety features, Citroen boasts of:

- Grip Control System (Traction Control)
- Active Park Assist
- Several Airbags and more
