With CNG emerging as a leading fuel choice, almost all prominent OEMs are launching their most-selling vehicles with a CNG option. The latest to join the league will be the Hyundai Creta. Here’s what we know about the Creta CNG.
Hyundai Creta CNG | Beginning of a new era
Recently spied testing near Pune, the Hyundai Creta CNG’s first spy shots have confirmed that the Creta CNG is to arrive. While the Creta isn’t the first Hyundai SUV spied testing on CNG, it seems as if Hyundai is now aggressively pushing its CNG plans forward ever since the HyRyder CNG made its debut. As per reports, it is likely that the Creta CNG will be based on the 1.4L turbo-petrol engine rather than the 1.5 litre NA engine.
The engine is likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual. In its standard form, the engine is capable of producing 138 HP with 242 NM. With CNG, however, the figures will surely decrease.
Launch & Pricing
With CNG variants up for grabs, the Creta’s engine line-up will become even more diverse. The diesel burners are also very popular and are unlike to be ditched. The Creta CNG will offer features such as the 10.25-inch touch infotainment, ventilated front seats, power adjustable driver’s seat, and safety inclusions such as up to 6 airbags, VSM, ESC, HAC, and brake assist etc.
An increase of about 1 to 1.25 lakhs is likely for the price. Launch can happen anywhere in early 2023. After the Creta CNG, Carens and Seltos are also likely to follow up with their CNG trims.
