Korean car manufacturer Hyundai had launched the facelift version of the Elantra in the month of October 2019. The Hyundai Elantra was launched with a 2.0-litre petrol unit compliant to the BS6 emission norms.
Now a leaked document has surfaced the internet which reveals that the Hyundai Elantra is expected to get a diesel powertrain very soon.

As per the leaked document, the diesel version of the Elantra will get its power from a 1.5-litre diesel unit compliant to the Bs6 emission norms which also powers the Kia Seltos and is capable of generating 113 hp at 4,000 rpm with 250Nm o peak torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm. The motor is expected to be the same motor which made its debut with the next-gen Hyundai Creta and the upcoming facelift version of the Hyundai Verna.
Additionally, the leaked document also reveals that the diesel variant of the Hyundai Elantra facelift could be offered under 4 trims which will include the S, SX, SX AT and the SX (O) AT. While the transmission options remain unchanged and will offer the same a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission.
It is likely that Hyundai could launch the diesel variant of the Elantra facelift in the coming weeks.
