Hyundai is very likely to reveal its first performance car in the N Line portfolio, starting with the Hyundai i20 N Line. A document (approval certificate) shared by Rushlane, reveals all the variants and specifications of the upcoming line-up of the i20 N Line. Hyundai is primarily targeting the i20 N Line to the younger demography. The N Line series of cars will be based on their standard counterparts but, with major changes and modifications in the staying and the performance part.
In the global market, Hyundai’s N Line range of cars includes; i10, Elantra, i30, Sonata, Kona and Tucson.
The approval documents clearly reveal the base to top model line-up of the Hyundai i20 N Line. The range starts with:
- i20 N Line N6 1.0 Turbo GDi paired with an IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) gearbox which is based on the Sportz trim of the standard i20.
- i20 N Line N8 1.0 Turbo GDi again paired to an IMT gearbox and based on the same Sportz trim.
- The range-topping variant is the i20 N Line N8 1.0 DCT Turbo GDi which puts power on the road via a DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox.
Do note that all three variants get the same 1.0L Turbo GDi Petrol Engine capable of 120PS (at 6,000RPM) and 172NM (at 1,500-4,000RPM). The power figures are the same for both the iMT and 7-Speed DCT variants.
The documents also revealed the dimension of the Hyundai i20 N Line which measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width, 1,505 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,580 mm.
Styling & Features
When it comes to styling and features, we are very sure that the upcoming i20 N Line is bound to get a beefed-up exterior in terms of bumpers, fenders and side skirts. You can expect an all-black menacing theme with low-profile tyres and massive stylish rims.
On the inside, Hyundai will give the i20 N Line a sportier treatment inclined towards a more driver-focused experience. We expect aluminium pedals, sporty double-stitching, seat bolsters etc.
