There have been many cars which were used by former state heads of India. A great position comes with great responsibility. Therefore, they needed a set of wheels which they could trust for long. Here are 5 Indian Prime Minister and president cars that helped our leaders move without any hassle while they planned the future of our country! In this article, we will have a look at 5 cars which will include the ones used by the leaders of the past along with the ones used by our nation’s present leaders. Let’s start with the present and move towards history!

Narendra Modi recently upgraded his ride to a brand new Range Rover HSE. This is the 2010 model of the Range Rover Sport and has got a 5.0-litre V8 engine under the hood. Most of us would think that Modi switched to this because Tata owns JLR. It isn’t so! We suppose that Modiji’s love for the camera had made him upgrade to this powerful SUV! The huge glass portions of this car let Modiji interact with the people well and also face the camera without any struggle. This plush SUV comes with an AWD system which will definitely help our PM to try some off-roading in case he feels like doing so!

Before Modiji upgraded to the Land Rover, he used to travel in this lux sedan. The BMW 760Li is an ultimate high-security sedan that serves many politicians worldwide. Former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh switched to this high-security sedan from an Ambassador. Yes, Ambassador was the official state car before Singh made a significant upgrade. Therefore, it is no wrong in saying that this one is Manmohan Singh’s car! The BMW 760Li comes with a high-end, bullet-proof armoured body and can run at a speed of 80kmph with punctured tyres! This is some great security that the nation’s leader needs. It gets a 6.6-litre, M Performance TwinPower Turbo twelve-cylinder petrol engine that generates 601hp.

  3. Mercedes Benz W140 Limousine (Motorcade)

In the above picture, you see Pranab Mukherjee and behind him is the Mercedes S600 Pullman Guard. This high-security limousine has been used by many presidents in India till date. Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma, the ninth president of India was the first one to use this high-security lux limousine! This car meets the BR7 level protection protocols along with VR9 ballistic protection which means that this car can survive handguns shots of up to .44 calibre, military rifle shots, bombs and even gas attacks! It is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine which makes 523bhp.

  4. Hindustan Ambassador (Motorcade, Now Defunct)

Before anyone of the above cars ever existed in India, the HM Ambassador was the official ‘Sarkari Gaadi’. The Ambassador was in production till 2014 and was widely used in all the government departments of India. Even the Chief Ministers used to roam around in an ambassador back then! Inder Kumar Gujral’s era made this car the first choice among all the government officials. H D Deve Gowda and Atal Bihari Vajpayee were other important personalities who used this iconic vehicle.

We have kept this one as the last car in our list because it was not anyhow related to the official travel purposes of the 6th Prime Minister of India. Rajiv Gandhi was a car lover and had some of the most awesome cars inside his garage which were available at that time. The Mercedes Benz 500 SEL was launched in 1979. Along with this sedan, Rajiv also owned a Range Rover Vogue, Jonga and a modified Jeep CJ7 SWB. While these were his personal possessions, he still used the Ambassador only for the official travel and other official purposes.

These were the top 5 Indian Prime Minister and president cars. No doubt there are more cars in the Parliament that need to be noticed and we will surely make you notice them as well but not in this one. Stay pinned while we draft another article which covers more cars from the Parliament. Till then, share this one with your friends and family and help them know about the machines that still drive the nation leaders!
