There is no single soul in this country that has not heard about the Mahindra Bolero. The robust SUV from India’s very own automaker, Mahindra. Bolero has been on the roads for around 20 years now and the craze does not seem to fade anytime sooner. Well, there were many variants you must have heard of, Invader is not one of them. Mahindra launched as Bolero’s off-roader version named Invader. Let’s dig deep and find out more about the car.
Mahindra Bolero Invader: Road less travelled
The company has always been confident about its SUVs and the Invader was no exception. Mahindra used to describe Invader’s ride as a test of your limits. Invader was made to reach places that no one would think of going to by normal car. Take it to a mountain, where the only light guiding your path would be the headlights. And with exceptional brake quality, you can reach the edge of the cliff as you are aware that the car will stop at the stroke of that paddle.
Performance

Not only did Invader come with powerful engines, but it also had 4WD option to choose. It was equipped with a state-of-the-art Borg-Warner 4WD system. And that’s not all!
To make sure that potholes are just another road for this SUV, it had independent wishbone coil spring and anti-roll bar at the front in 2WD while semi-elliptical leaf spring in 4WD. At the rear, Mahindra Bolero Invader was kept suspended by rigid leaf springs.
The Invader had a pretty decent fuel mileage of between 12-14kmpl. Although it was not a dragster, it could hit the top speed of 12kmph.
Why is it the lesser-known off-roader?
Well, the answer is pretty simple. Maruti Suzuki Gypsy was better. Bolero has been dominating the SUV segment but when it comes to off-roading, none can beat the king. So, in 2010 after low sales and demand, Mahindra discontinued the Bolero Invader.
