Mahindra Thar Roxx: Not an Offroader Anymore?

Over the years, Mahindra Thar has been known as a niche off-roading vehicle. Its capabilities to perform in diverse terrains made it a perfect option for off-roading experience, that too in affordability. However, with time, its value and distinction from other vehicles have been seen deteriorating as its appearance became too common on city roads, losing the sole intent of offroader. Especially with the new Thar Roxx, you get to see it losing the practicality of an off-roading vehicle, where design and features have been prioritized over off-roading capabilities.

Why not an Offroader Anymore?

When you look at the Thar Roxx, you can notice that the new 5-door design and the abundant features it comes with have been introduced as significant changes. The new wheelbase and interior fashion in the Roxx are the key highlights of diminishing off-roading capabilities. For an offroader, a compact wheelbase is important for better movements in concise spaces, which is seen quite the opposite in the Roxx.

The new light-colored interiors in the Roxx stand peculiar. Light-colored interiors are prone to get dirty faster compared to dark ones, which is theoretical in terms of an off-roading vehicle.

Secondly, the new add-on features in the Roxx such as ADAS and sunroof are not actually needed in an offroader. Sunroof in particular stands as the most desired yet unused feature in an off-roading vehicle, and What is the use of ADAS when going to offroad in the outskirts?

All these properties in new-aged Thar tarnish its original intent and image of an offroader. It has now become more of a city commute vehicle, which explains its common appearance on the roads.
