Mahindra Thar Roxx: Key Issues Explained

Thar fans are going crazy over the upcoming Roxx model, which is certainly the most awaited car of this year. Mahindra’s previous Thar models have seen abundant success and wiped out all the competitors in the respective price segments, the same was anticipated from the new Thar Roxx. However, certain aspects of this latest release have given fans a pause. In this blog, we will highlight what Mahindra has done to let some of its customers down.

The New Thar Roxx: What went wrong?

Mahindra has made notable upgrades to the new Roxx model, that were not seen previously such as new ventilated seats, ADAS level 2, a 360-degree camera, LED headlamps, new DRLs, a Digital instrument cluster, and 10.25-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, and most importantly the new 5 door upgrade. Undoubtedly, these upgrades have lifted the rigid image of the previous Thar. However, certain aspects didn’t match the expectations of fans.

In terms of power, the automatic variant of Thar Roxx has come out to be superior to the manual one. The automatic variant has a power of 170 bhp and 370 Nm of torque whereas the manual variant has only 150 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. This poses a significant issue for the Thar, as most of its admirers prefer manual driving over automatic.

Another major issue is associated with the 4×4 segment. Thar Roxx doesn’t feature a 4×4 segment in petrol variants. Only diesel variants have 4×4 segments. The 4×4 segment of Thar is the most admired, and having no petrol variant in this segment can be a major problem for the people who prefer petrol cars over diesel.

Additionally, the light-colored interiors and extended wheelbase in the new Roxx aren’t gaining much popularity. Since Thar is primarily seen as an off-roading vehicle, light-colored interiors can be problematic in the experience. They are prone to get dirty quickly compared to dark ones, which makes them less practical for off-roading. Moreover, a long wheelbase can pose problems in capability while off-roading.
