XUV300, Mahindra’s compact SUV has joined the elite list of Indian cars which have scored 5-star rating at the Global NCAP Crash Tests.
The Mahindra XUV300 has joined the likes of Tata Nexon and Tata Altroz which have earlier set a yardstick for safety when it comes to Indian road cars.
The thing that’s notable here is that, not only the car scored a 5-star rating in the NCAP, it also obtained the highest points ever for a car manufactured by an Indian manufacturer.
The XUV300 scored 5 stars in adult occupancy safety and a 4-star rating in child occupancy testing. The XUV300 scored a maximum possible score of 16.42 out of 17 in the adult occupancy segment and a score of 37.44 out of a potential 49 in the child occupancy segment.
In comparison, Tata’s offering, the Altroz scored a 16.13 in the adult occupant safety test and 29 points on child protection occupant test.
The impeccable scores secured by the two Indian cars will surely increase the reputation of Indian cars which are usually infamous for their mediocre safety standards.
The authorities at NCAP tend to choose the top variants of cars for their tests due to their safety specs and a heavier weight which puts the load of the impact on the car’s structure.
