Maruti Suzuki Eeco, a name that has always been in the top-selling brands in India. The history dates back to the time when the famous Omni was launched. Maruti Suzuki was able to understand the need for a premium MPV in India. This is why the company launched a premium MPV, the Versa. But it was not able to pull a lot of customers. So, Maruti decided to tone down Versa a bit and launched the Eeco in 2010. And rest has been witnessed by the automotive sales charts, month by month. But what helps the Maruti Suzuki Eeco penetrate a position in top 10 where other segments have a good hold. Let’s find out!
-
Good Performance
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes with a G12B 1.2-litre petrol engine capable of churning out 72.4hp@6,000rpm and 98Nm@3,000rpm. This engine has an optimum performance with low engine vibrations. It comes mated to a 5-speed MT. What’s more? It is a Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD). RWD offers better load distribution and handling dynamics, which is required for a cargo vehicle. It also obliterates the torque steer that is experienced in an FWD. Want to know more about torque steer? Read here: Why are most Indian cars Front-Wheel-Drive and NOT Rear-Wheel-Drive?

Enough Space for Cargo
Maruti Suzuki Eeco has got enough space, literally the best in the price segment. It has got a boot space of almost 540 litres. This makes it a great choice for the e-commerce business.
-
Multiple Seating Options (5-7)
Maruti Suzuki offers the Eeco in 2 seating options: a 5-seat and a 7-seat option. So it is great for nuclear as well as large families. And this is a reason that not only the e-commerce setups but families prefer this car too. It offers great space and seating capacity.
-
CNG Compatibility
What do businesses want? To save as much as they can. And the Eeco offers S-CNG option with the petrol engine which yields
-
High fuel efficiency
This is what all Maruti cars are basically known for. The Eeco offers fuel efficiency of 16.11kmpl for petrol. Turn on the CNG and the mileage goes up to 20.88km/kg. These numbers are great for an MPV.

Is a lot safer now!
Gone are the days when Maruti Suzuki cars were not safe. With the introduction of BNVSAP norms, Maruti has made its cars compliant to the norms. It comes equipped with ABS with EBD, Driver-side airbag, reverse parking sensors and speed alert system. So, as the company says, ‘Cover miles, with worry-free smiles’.
-
Unmatched Pricing
The base model with all the safety features mentioned above comes at a cost of ₹3,80,800 (Ex-Showroom Delhi). That’s it! And the top-spec Eeco Cargo with AC and CNG cost ₹5,06,200. Now that is a great price which is why it is a choice of businesses across the country.

A real MPV
In the world of people trying to snug into small cars, a car that zooms (exaggerating here a bit) past fitting more than 7 people, a CNG cylinder and a load of groceries is what best describes the Maruti Suzuki Eeco. Although Maruti Suzuki Eeco might not be able to zoom past the cars, it is capable of doing everything else. This makes the Eeco most VFM MPV in the market.
-
Growing E-Commerce
With the pandemic induced lockdown, the e-commerce retail business has increased by folds. And this has helped the sales of Eeco for sure. So much so that in the month of August, Eeco showed a YoY growth of 5.27%. A true dominator indeed!

No Direct Competition in the market
The best part of Eeco is that there is no direct competition in the Indian market. The Tata Ace is nowhere near in terms of variable utility that the Maruti Eeco offers. So, there is no losing when there is no one to beat, right?

Very very useful& good explanation.
Eeco
Eeco is extremely good vehicle.
Maruti should give a bigger option equivalent to ertiga.
1 feet longer, 1 feet wider, wider tires, as big as TUV300 plus Van with sliding doors @7-10lakhs electric model with swappable range extender battery would be a hit (Suzuki and Toyota) versions would be good
With good experience… EECO the best car in vehicle field, good speed, upto max speed of 140 which one I highly touched…. good control breaking also…I Run the car around 10k ….upto 9 seat will balance in that ….nice car
Don’t know why there’s no AMT variant in eeco

Very disappointed with milage
I’m a proud owner of Maruti Eeco ..its been running for 11 years now smoothly.. no major repairs .. the best vehicle that I ever owned .. can be used according to my wish .. be a cargo or be a passenger vehicle .
It really gives great service
Absolutely wonderful vehicle. Stunning in hilly areas too…went on leh ladakh, nubra, pangong etc without any issue. Infact crossed the flowing lake too. Just need to keep balanced weight .
The only thing on which maruti can work is to increase its ground clearance little more..
As such no issues but just to give mental satisfaction n off course in books.
Damn! That’s quite an achievement. Cheers to you and your Maruti Eeco 🙂
