It’s for sure that India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is up to something really big. You ask why? we have got a glimpse of Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming line-up.
A leaked document has surfaced the internet which shows the names and other vital information of the brand’s future line-up.
The names mentioned in the trademark application include- Espaco, Libertas and Solido. The trademark application was filed on August 13 by MSIL and was approved on September 14th 2020.
Additionally, all the applications are applicable for Class 12 products, while the description reveals that these will be used for “Vehicles” suitable for locomotion by land, air or water”.

Is this Maruti’s step towards storming the EV segment?
We can expect the new line-up to be all-electric versions of the Alto, Celerio and WagonR. However, If Maruti decides to step into the world of the electric vehicle segment it could emerge as a segment leader in the nearing future.
However, we are yet to know, whether these trademarked names will be accompanied by an EV tag or not. Moreover, if we look at the brand’s capabilities these products will be capable enough to compete with some of the segment leaders like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona and the Tata Nexon EV.

Additionally, Maruti is working on launching an EV in the form of an all-electric Wagon R. Maruti aims to launch it as the most affordable EV in the market. The all-electric Wagon-R is likely to be named as XL-5 or one of the newly trademarked names.
