This comes from straight from the Chinese owned English carmaker MG who has for some godforsaken reason silently revealed the soon to launch MG Astor.
For those who still think that it is a new car from MG. The MG Astor is nothing but the rebadged version of the MG ZS EV which has obviously been renamed and slight updated.
Anything new on the mechanical front?
- It is speculated to come mated to a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.
- Both the engines produce 120hp with a peak torque of 150Nm of peak torque and 163hp with 230Nm of peak torque.
- Transmission options include a standard 6-speed manual alongside an optional automatic gearbox.
What’s new on the feature end?
- So this is where things get pretty serious as this will be the first time when we will get to see a fully AI-Powered car in the country.
- The soon to launch will get its own AI personal Assistant and is the first car that gets the Concept of Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) software.
- The platform integrates features such as Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence allowing buyers to choose from a personalised et of services.
- These services include maps navigations from MapMyIndia and phone connectivity services powered by Jio.
- The ZS platform based Astor will also be the first car to feature Level 2 ADAS technology.
- The features on the Level 2 ADAS include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist and Speed Assist System and so on.
India launch and Rivals?
- We can expect to see the MG Astor anytime by the end of this year or by early 2022.
- With its launch, the MG Astor will rival the likes of the Renault Duster, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra XUV500.
We are planning to purchase for my son
