The 2024 Cooper S hatchback and the Countryman Electric were unveiled to the Indian market on Wednesday by the German automotive brand. The introduction will strengthen the Mini India lineup. Mini India currently has Cooper SE, 3-door Cooper hatchback, and the Countryman in their portfolio.
Cooper S
A new 9.4-inch touchscreen is present at the center of the dashboard, serving as the focal point of the basic yet stylish interiors.
Modifications to the new Cooper S’s exterior include a bigger octagonal grille up front and tail lights that are triangular and connected by a black band. Eliminating bulky air intakes and fog lights, the front and rear bumpers have been made more aerodynamic. The car’s plastic wheel covers and distinctive round headlamps are all present and accounted for.
Engine: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
Power: 204hp
Torque: 300 Nm
Gearbox: 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
With all these stats and a front wheel drive layout, Mini claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of 6.6 seconds.
The Cooper S is launched at a price of ₹44.90 lakh.
Countryman Electric
The same 9.4-inch touchscreen, as present in the Cooper S, is fitted to the Countryman’s dashboard.
Mini has entered the electric SUV market in India with the 2024 Countryman Electric. Extensive body cladding gives it a tough look, and its aerodynamic design includes a closed-off grille and aerodynamic wheels. Silver skid plates, vertical LED taillights, and the signature “COUNTRYMAN” badging make up the back design.
As to WLTP regulations, the Countryman Electric’s 66.5 kWh battery pack provides a maximum range of 462 kilometers when fully charged. One 204 PS electric motor drives the front wheels. A DC fast charger can fully charge the battery in just 29 minutes, going from 10% to 80% capacity. Another option is the international version, which comes with 313 PS and features an all-wheel drive system with dual motors.
