Tata Nexon has been an evergreen car in the Indian automaker’s lineup. It was India’s first 5-star safety-rated car and now that we are moving into the next phase of the Indian automotive era, the Tata Nexon is already slaying in the market and generating numbers for the brand. Well, this car is available in 67 variants including Dark Edition, Kaziranga Edition and Jet Edition. Prices of the Tata Nexon start from Rs 7.70 lakh and go up to Rs 14.18 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
Well, after so many regular updates, new variants and special editions, Tata Nexon is all set to undergo a generation change. Although there is no official word on the launch timelines or even the pricing, we definitely know that there will be some major changes for sure. It will get updated in terms of features, design and most importantly, the underpinning. The new-gen SUV will be based on ALFA (Agile, Light & Flexible Architecture) platform which already underpins the Altroz and the Punch.
The ALFA Platform is compatible with multiple body styles, multiple engines, pure electric and hybrid powertrains. As per the Indian automaker, this architecture has been designed to “deliver maximum luggage space, rear legroom, and utility space around the driver”. The Tata Avinya or Tata Curvv concepts are likely to be the inspiration for developing the real-life Nexon.
Talking about the engines, we expect this SUV to retain the 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. We can expect the SUV to get a mild hybrid tech with the generation change. Apart from this, the SUV will be compatible with upcoming stringent CAFÉ standards and updated BS6 emission norms.
