Porsche has launched its first rear-wheel drive(RWD) electric SUV, the Macan EV at a Rs 1.23 cr price tag. It is an entry-level launch with a significant price hike. Let’s see what’s the deal.
Macan EV: Variants and Pricing
The Mecan EV series is now starting at Rs 1.23 cr. The entry-level RWD variant is priced at 1.23 cr, the new 4S variant is starting from 1.39 cr, and the Macan turbo EV has seen a price hike of Rs 4 lakh, priced at Rs 1.69 cr. Each variant differs and offers distinct performance and features.
Macan EV: Performance
The entry-level Macan EV RWD possesses a single rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a horsepower of 360 and a torque of 563 Nm. This helps Macan to reach 0 to 100kph in a mere 5.7 seconds. The top speed of the Mecan goes all the way to 220 kph. The other variant, the Macan 4S EV has two electric motors that produce 516hp and 820 Nm of torque. This variant does not take more than 4 seconds to reach a speed of 100kph from 0 and has a top speed of 240 kph.
New Features and Options
The Porsche Macan EV comes with several new features. On the exterior side, a new color option “Slate Grey Neo” is added, the 20-inch alloy wheels are kept as an option for Macan S, and for an off-roading experience, a new off-road design is available for better ground clearance and approach angle.
Macan EV: Battery and Range
All variants come with a powerful battery of 100kWh. The Macan Turbo EV offers a range of 591 km, the Mecan 4S EV gives 606 km, and the entry-level variant stands with an impressive range of 641 km on a single charge. The range is determined by the motor power hence, the comparatively low range of the Turbo EV variant.
Macan EV: Charging Capabilities
The Macan EV possesses a charging capability of up to 800V on the PPE platform. With the help of a 270kW fast charger, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes. This entry-level fast charging stands out among other competitor cars in the contemporary market.
Competition and Market Position
In the market, there will be other electric SUVs besides Macan. It must compete with high-end electric SUVs that are designed for luxury and performance, like the Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, etc. The competition is intensified because all of these electric cars have comparable features and price tags.
