Even Doctor Strange didn’t see this coming! Pratap Bose, Design Chief, Tata Motors has stepped down from his position. This news comes from an internal memo circulated internally which states “Pratap Bose has decided to leave for better opportunities. He will proceed on leave for his remainder of (his) tenure.”
Acting upon the current situation Tata has appointed Pratap’s deputy and head of the company’s UK Design Centre, Martin Uhlarik as the head of design with immediate effect.
Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors, said, “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Uhlarik as the new Global Design Head of Tata Motors. Martin is an experienced automobile designer with deep domain knowledge of design, keen understanding of international trends and extensive operational experience with leading automobile companies in several geographies.
He further added, His rich experience and expertise will inspire our teams to further enhance our vehicle design philosophy and language. I take this opportunity to also thank Pratap for his services and wish him the best for the future.”
Pratap bose is (was) not only known as the design head but also as the face of the homegrown brand in the country. Bose has been credited for the overall transformation of design for Tata and has played a significant role in designing cars like the Tata Altroz, Tiago, Hexa, Nexon, Harrier etc.
Who is Martin Uhlarik?
- Martin became a part of Tata Motors in 2016 as Head of Design, United Kingdom.
- He has an experience of almost 26 years
- Martin has also led the brand with developing next-gen product which still have the bands Impact design language.
- As of now, Martin will continue to manage both Europe and Asia as Design Head and shall report to Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors.
