The SUV segment has always been a hot-selling one in India. From Tata Safari to Mahindra XUV500, India has been flooded with options all along. But some options were not able to make much of a mark on the audience. One such was the Nissan Terrano. Launched back in 2013, Terrano was Nissan’s iteration of the famous Renault Duster. Let’s take a look at what all did the SUV offer.
What was under the hood of Nissan Terrano?

Was Nissan able to sell Terrano?
Nissan is known to have good cars but a weak network in India. People have not been able to trust the Japanese brand properly, all thanks to poor sales and service operations in the country. Unlike Renault Duster, Terrano was never able to pick up much pace. It was later discontinued silently when the BS6 norms kicked in. Let’s list down the reasons why Terrano failed:
- The price. The starting price of Terrano was almost ₹10lakhs. On the other hand, Renault Duster came with a starting price tag of ₹8.5lakhs. People chose Duster over Terrano as there was no difference at all, except for the price gap.
- The Service Network. Nissan does not have a good image in the Indian automotive market when it comes to having a good service network. This badly affected the sales chart of Terrano.
- No Update. Unlike Renault Duster, Nissan did not give any facelift or new generation to the Terrano. It made the SUV outdated, thus ensuring no reason to choose Terrano over Duster.

And in 2019, Terrano just vanished from the company’s website. The stock at the dealerships was cleared by giving huge discounts. And Nissan Terrano’s bad run came to an end. What do you think about Nissan’s SUV? Let us know in the comments section below.
NISSAN Marketing is that much high. It’s not reached the lower bud of the the country.any way I love terrano
I have been using a Nissan Terrano XL(O) 2015 model. The performance of the vehicle is top-notch when it comes to the initial pickup of engine and the drivability on any kind of roads. It is built tough and and can take any amount of abuse from Indian roads. I feel that Terrano is very much underrated due to its outdated interior controls and high pricing compared to its rivals. One who drives a Terrano will know how underrated it is. The exterior design is so stylish and the interior cabin is very roomy. It’s huge bootspace can accomodate a large amount of baggage. If it had the tech features similar to that of Creta, it would be have been a king in the compact SUV segment even in 2022.
Completely agree with you on this. Also, only if Nissan marketed the Terrano well it could’ve made it in India.
