The Renault Austral
It was back in 2005, that Renault trademarked the name “Austral”. Derived from the Latin word “Australis”, the term reflects the tranquility of the south, lush green spaces, and the exquisite nature that evokes limitless opportunities. The word finds its essence in many European languages, including French, Spanish, English, and Italian. The world “Austral” is thus a perfect nomenclature for a vehicle meant for the European market and beyond.
As revealed by the manufacturer, the new compact SUV will be manufactured at the Palencia Factory. Sharing a teaser of the upcoming vehicle the brand aims to regain its position in the SUV-Segment foothold, following the Arkana and the new Megane E-TECH Electric models.”As per the company, the Austral will be a spacious, high-tech, and fun-to-drive SUV, bringing something new to the C-Segment.
Will the Austral hit the Indian market?
While the first look of the Austral has got us all excited, the vehicle is currently slated to hit the European markets. It is too soon to say whether or not the vehicle will come to India. But as avid automobile enthusiasts, we do hope the Austral comes to India. As per reports, the compact SUV can be powered by a 1.3-liter petrol engine developed in collaboration with Daimler that will be capable of generating 140 PS of power and can be offered with a hybrid version as well. Nonetheless, the Austral is currently expected to make its debut in the second half of 2022.
