Skoda came to India back in 2002 with the Octavia as their first car. Then came the next generation in 2005 with a different name, the Skoda Laura. The German carmaker is known to have a Racing Sports Legacy. One of the best products in this lineup known is the Octavia vRS. But the one that is not heard of is the Laura vRS. The performance iteration of the Laura brand was launched in 2011. So what did the Skoda Laura vRS offered? Let’s find out!
What was under the hood of Skoda Laura vRS?
Engine Specifications |
|
Engine | 1.8-litre TSI DI Petrol |
Capacity | 1,798cc |
Power | 160hp@4,500rpm |
Torque | 250Nm@1,500rpm |
Skoda Laura vRS was one of the few cars in the segment that could top over 200kmph easily. To add to the thrill, the TSI engine came mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Just like the Octavia vRS, Laura vRS too had superb driving dynamics, thanks to the stiff suspension. It lacked the DSG transmission though! Even though it was this powerful, Skoda Laura vRS could easily turn in fuel mileage of over 10kmpl.
What made this vRS stand apart from the regular Skoda Laura?
The standard Laura also had a TSI engine. So what made the vRS stand apart. First of all was the vRS badging, 7 in total around the car to make sure that you know when you drive one.
Then came the additions to the exterior which include Draconis 16-inch Alloy wheels, chrome surround for the radiator grille, sports front bumper with integrated spoiler, rear decklid spoiler and polished twin-exhaust tailpipes.
As for the interiors, Laura vRS sported Alcantara leather seats with vRS badging, 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and sports inserts. It also had an electric sunroof.
But being more focused on performance, the Laura vRS lacked features like steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and USB ports.
