Tata Motors is set to launch two of its EVs by the end of the year 2020 or early 2021. Tata Altroz EV and Tata HBX EV are among few electric cars to be launched in India. Both the cars will share Ziptron’s powertrain technology for EVs as confirmed by TATA. Let’s have a closer look:

Tata Altroz is already launched in India with petrol and diesel as fuel options. But, Tata Motors will be launching Altroz EV by the end of 2020 or in early 2021. Tata is using its homegrown “Zeptron” technology to power this car. Although this car will be battery-powered, still it will be able to run 300+ Kms on a single charge. Being an Electric vehicle, it will not consume any conventional fuel. Hence, no emissions, no exhaust. So, emission norms are of no use to this vehicle. Additionally, it’s powertrain will deliver very quick pick-up and without any noise. So, we may expect a silent & comfortable ride in this Car. This car will come with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with fast charging feature. Additionally, the battery of this car will be coming with a warranty of 8 years and IP67 certification for dust and water resistance.

Tata HBX was first showcased in geneva auto show, 2019. Although Tata Motors hasn’t announced the details of the car yet, we may expect the launch in the first quarter of 2021. It will be the smallest SUV from Tata. This car will be getting a lithium-ion battery with a warranty of 8 years. Additionally, the battery of this car also gets IP 67 certification for protection to any possible damages from dust or water. Tata HBX will be powered by Ziptron technology for EVs, developed by Tata Motors itself. This vehicle will be capable of reaching high speeds without making any operational noise. Also, there will be no fuel consumption so no harmful emissions. Hence, emission norms are meaningless for this car too.
Tata HBX EV | Price
The expected price of HBX EV is ₹10-12 lacs. Prices of EVs appear high even for the smallest electric cars because this technology is new and first-generation cars are being manufactured. With time, prices may come down.
