Tata has registered a new trademark in India, known as Frest. It might be the name for the production version of the Curvv concept. Although rumours suggest they might use this for the C-segment ICE SUV based on the Curvv concept, Let’s take a look:
Curvv ICE
Tata initially revealed the Curvv as an EV and later showcased the ICE version at the Auto Expo 2023. They also confirmed that this SUV will get the new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. It could churn out 125hp and 190 nm of torque. The same engine will power the upcoming Nexon. Frest has various potential definitions, referring to something fresh-looking that perfectly suits their first coupe car.

Along with the new petrol engine, Tata will most likely offer a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine as well. The same engine is currently running in Nexon and Altroz. The brand said that they are not ready to ditch diesel yet as it is in high demand. Tata has already confirmed that it will have both electric and ICE powertrains in the near future. While the EV is expected to launch next year, the version with the new petrol engine might be available by 2025.
Upcoming Powertrains
In addition to the new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, Tata is also working on a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that will power the Harrier and Safari in the future. This flagship duo will share the engine, making around 170hp and 280 nm of torque. It might power the top-end variants of the Frest ICE with high-performance figures.

The Curvv concept has a great fan base due to the coupe shape, which is a first for the brand. They also said it would carry the sportiness and silhouette of a coupe along with its durability. The sharp edges give it a modern look, and the promising powertrains are the perfect heart for this SUV.
