GoMechanic’s Take on the New Launch
Expected Price
The Thar Roxx is anticipated to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, as it will be available with the ADAS and some new age tech.
Rivals in The Market
There is only one direct rival for the 5-door Thar. And that is the Force Gurkha 5-door. The force Gurkha has a 2.6-litre CRDe engine sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The Gurkha has also received a bump in the Power figure recently. This will make it a worthy rival for the Roxx.
However, there is no comparison of the Thar with the other softroader SUVs but still the price bracket will put the Roxx against the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, the Maruti Grand Vitara, the MG Astor, the Skoda Kushaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
What GoMechanic Thinks of the Launch
Mahindra is on a roll these days. They have been refreshing their stable very often. We think this would be better for Indian Automobile market to have new and different car options available. Competitions allow for improvement in the existing car market. The introduction of the 5-door Thar will definitely shake things up a bit. The Off-roading SUVs are getting more and more popular in India. Making these cars more practical will be a win-win situation for Mahindra. Let us see what direction Hyundai takes along with other automakers towards SUV segment going forward.
