If you are an audiophile and a car enthusiast like us, then most definitely, you will have a subwoofer in your car to elevate the sound experience. But do you know the best place to put a subwoofer in a car? It’s not always the trunk in every situation that has the most advantages. So here are a few tips that help you enjoy the beats more.
-
Trunk
This had to be the first on the list since it is the first place that comes to anybody’s mind when you speak about a subwoofer. And, you’re not wrong, because if you’re thinking about having one large subwoofer that should do the trick, then there is no other place in a car with so much area to place one of them. The boot space is used by all, but it’s not every time you will be needing all the space and hence placing a big subwoofer does make sense. But the other thing you need to remember while placing the subwoofer in the trunk is the speaker’s position. Ideally, you will get the best output in the car when the speakers are facing towards the back and not towards the front or while facing upwards.
The disadvantage of this position is that it takes up boot space, and if you have other items in your boot, they might damage the subwoofer when they move around while driving.

Rear seat
This is one of the underrated positions when it comes to the best place to put a subwoofer in a car, and the main reason is that not many know about it. Placing the subwoofer in the rear seat gives you better sound distribution and outstanding bass production. The subwoofer can be faced either towards the ground or towards the front seats in some cases.
While the advantage is clear and you will have better sound quality, the passengers at the rear might not be pleased with it. Since the sound output is nearer to them, it might get louder for them than those sitting at the front.

Front of the car
If the driver and the co-driver are the ones that usually listen to music, then this is the best place to put a subwoofer in a car. I agree it is unconventional, but the sound output will be much more precise since it is near. The bass production is also smoother, but it won’t have the same effect throughout the car.

Under the Front seat
This is, according to us, the best place to put a subwoofer in a car. For this, of course, you will need two subwoofers placed under the driver seat and the co-driver’s seat. The ideal size of the subwoofer can be around 8 inches which is smaller than the one large subwoofer in the trunk, but when you place 2 of them under the seats that fire upwards, you will have a much better effect. This is primarily because of the positioning of the subwoofer, and since it is almost at the centre of the length of the car, it provides the same effect throughout the car. Accompany this with the standard door speakers offered by the manufacturer, and it will sound much better.
The disadvantage is that you will have to buy 2 of them instead of one. The price of one is lesser, but since you have to buy 2, it will become more than the single large subwoofer in the trunk. The output settings as well must be tuned since they won’t remain the same for every car.
We are not hell-bent on proving the under-seat subwoofers are the best because there are a lot of large driver subwoofers that sound way better, and just one of them will be enough in the trunk, and then there are those who prefer subtle subwoofers that can be placed at the front as well. This will vary more with the type of car that you are planning to install as well since sedans are longer, SUVs are taller, and hatchbacks are smaller. The sound output and acoustics are definitely not the same on all of them.
So we would advise you to choose the right kind of subwoofer first as not all of them want to bang their heads to the steering wheel, and not all of them want to listen to slow music at low volume all day long. Either way, it is better to research the right subwoofer that suits you and then decide the placement of it. Which do you think is the perfect place for the subwoofer?
