Volkswagen T-Roc R to Launch in India by Early 2021

German automobile giant Volkswagen recently introduced the T-Roc compact SUV for the domestic market at a starting price of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The VW T-Roc is only offered in a single variant and comes via the CBU route which restricts the carmaker to only a mere 2500 units.

However, a recent media report that Volkswagen might be thinking of launching the VW T-Roc R which happens to be the performance-based variant of the T-Roc compact SUV for the domestic market. Rumour also has it that name might also be changed to T-Roc GT

Volkswagen T-Roc R | Engine Specifications

  • We can expect the desi variant of the T-Roc R might get a 2.0L TSI petrol engine churning 294hp with 400Nm of peak torque while paired to a 6-speed manual and an upgraded 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4MOTION AWD system.
  • With such amazing specification, the new T-Roc will be able to do 100 from a standstill in a matter of 4.9 seconds with a top speed of almost 250kph.

  • Visually, the all-new T-Roc GT or R looks a bit different on the outside as it will support a new sportier bumper, vertically positioned DRL’s and R badging on the front and the back.
  • On the inside, the T-Roc R will more or less remain the same, ALthough there are some tweaks on the inside which include an all-black interior, R monogrammed bucket seats, sportier steering wheel and carbon fibre inserts.

  • The performance-based model of the T-Roc will be priced upwards of INR 30 lakh and could be launched by early 2021 in India.
  • With its launch, this performance-based compact SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and the Tata Harrier.
