When people talk about performance and refinement in motorcycles there just one name that pops up in our heads YES!! “Yamaha”. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has always exceeded the rider’s expectations. Yamaha launches yet another 155cc motorcycle ‘XSR155’ in Thailand which will likely come to the Indian market.
Powertrain and Transmission
- Yamaha with its iconic R15-V3 came with the revolutionary 155cc engine with VVA or Variable Valve Accentuation.
- Like Yamaha MT-15 and R15-V3, the new XSR155 will also come with the same engine.
- The engine as said earlier is a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled with VVA. It produces 19.3hp@10,000rpm and about 14.7Nm@8,500rpm of torque. Both the numbers are class-leading in the 150cc engine segment.
- The powerful engine powers the rear wheels of the motorcycle via a 6-speed sequential multi-clutch transmission.
- The Motorcycle also comes with a slip and assist clutch which makes aggressive riding a bit easy.
Design Cues
- Yamaha XSR155 shares the design cues with its bigger siblings the XSR700 and XSR900 which are on sale in the International markets.
- All the XSR series motorcycle follow the same pattern of retro motorcycles with added tech to enhance the rideability.
- This time too XSR155 is no different as it gets the teardrop fuel tank with a continued single seat. The footpegs are slightly rear-set which enhances the sporty riding character.
- Though completely retro it misses out on clip-on handlebars which could have added a plus point to existing great dynamics of the motorcycle. Not to get greedy though.
- Nevertheless missing something it makes up with the all-digital instrument cluster which shows a whole lot of information. Even though the readout is small it is fairly easy to read.
- In addition to that, the headlight and tail lights are an all-LED unit in the motorcycle.
Rivals
All in all, Yamaha is pitching the new motorcycle in a new market. There are no such competitors of the new retro motorcycle. The closest rival to this motorcycle is the Jawa which is priced a bit higher than this offering straight from Japan.
Expected Price: ₹1.40 Lakh (ex-Showroom)
