Ever since its launch in March 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza somehow managed to set the sales charts on fire every single time. Although it is a Compact SUV, it has always been on the top and beats many hatchbacks, too, in terms of sales. It has everything to be on the top, from great looks, spacious interiors, and one of the best performances in its segment. There is more good news as the Brezza is going through a generation update for the year 2022. Here are ten new features expected on the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
The design of the car is the first thing that makes it clear that it is not just another facelift and is a whole new generation update. It doesn’t look anything like the previous version, and although it is polarizing, we like it. Without the badges, nobody would have identified it as a Brezza, that’s for sure, and that’s how new it is.
-
Electric Sunroof
Maruti Suzuki did not bother to fit one even with all its competitors in the segment offering a sunroof right from the mid-variants, but it looks like that is about to change. What seems to be a first in a Maruti Suzuki car that will debut on the 2022 Brezza is the electric sunroof, and this will be the first model to be equipped with the factory-fitted electric sunroof.
-
360-Degree Camera
The 360-degree camera is a welcome feature on any car these days owing to the tight parking spaces we get in cities. Currently, there are not many cars in this segment that have this feature except for the Kia Sonet.
-
Bigger Touchscreen Infotainment
While the infotainment system on the Maruti Suzuki models was good, they feel outdated compared to its rivals. So, a new infotainment system is required, and according to the spy shots, it looks like they seem to be doing exactly that. You can expect this to be a 9-inch touchscreen system, and as you can see from the image above, it looks like the floating screen type.
-
Wireless Smartphone Connectivity
The new touchscreen infotainment system is expected to be loaded with the latest gadgetry with wireless smartphone connectivity like the wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Suzuki might be joining this party late, but it’s better late than never.

-
New Instrument Cluster
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza also gets a new instrument cluster, as shown in the spy shots above, and it seems to be borrowed from the new Ciaz. It’s not half bad, but with the competition heating up, a fully digital instrument cluster would have been a more compelling feature for a prospective buyer.
-
Wireless Charging
Another feature that Suzuki is late to the party is the wireless charging pads. It’s not a deal-breaker but definitely good to have one.
-
Connected Car Tech
Maruti Suzuki did launch the Suzuki Connect, and it had beneficial features that could be installed on any Nexa car initially. It was more of an improved OBD device, but the new Brezza is coming with is more sophisticated and adds a lot more features to keep up with the competition.
-
Paddle Shifters
The 1.5-liter petrol engine on the Brezza may not be a turbocharged unit, but it is engaging to drive, and the paddle shifters are a welcome addition. There are rumors that the automatic variant might get a different gearbox than the 4-speed AMT, and that coupled with the paddle shifters are just the right ingredients that are required to sit on the top again.
-
Better Safety
The Vitara Brezza is probably the safest Maruti Suzuki car in India, with a GNCAP rating of 4-stars. The Heartect platform underpins the new 2022 Brezza, and it has one advantage and one possible disadvantage. The advantage is that the ca will be lighter and hence more fuel-efficient and better performance, while the disadvantage is the question of safety. We know that all the current cars under the Heartect Platform have scored dismal ratings in the GNCAP, and yet Suzuki claims that their cars are safe enough. We are not saying it will be unsafe, but we are not sure about the new Brezza being as safe as before. There is still good news, though, as it is expected to be equipped with other safety techs like more airbags, etc.
-
Stronger Hybrid Tech
The smart hybrid system in Maruti Suzuki cars works well, and Suzuki plans to improve this technology further, which will make the Brezza more fuel-efficient than it already is. The existing 12V hybrid technology could be replaced with a stronger 48V hybrid system paired with the same 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine that churns out 103 bhp and 138Nm of torque.
The current Maruti Suzuki Brezza is everything a compact SUV should be and had a good long run, and with the generation update, we are optimistic that it will start topping the sales charts again. The only thing we are skeptical about is its safety quotient. If it manages to score the same 4-star safety as before, it is an easy recommendation to anybody looking for a Compact SUV that is a jack of all trades.
