Domestic SUV maker from India and Blue oval from the USA are working together on a joint venture for manufacturing 3 cars for the Indian automobile market. According to reports, 1 of them(Possibly XUV 400) will compete against performer compact SUV segment of the present Indian automobile market viz., MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V. Although, new cars manufactured under this venture will be rolled out with Ford branding. But, we’ll get Mahindra developed powertrain and transmission on these cars.

As engine specifications of upcoming “joint venture” car isn’t out yet, but we may expect a BS6 compliant, 1.3- 1.5 L petrol engine. Similarly, Car will come with Automatic transmission option paired with Mahindra drivetrain keeping in mind the transmission system of its rivals. For rest details, we must wait for launch.

From time to time, In Indian automobile market people witnessed various such instances when two brands collectively worked to produce a single product, for eg. Logan from Mahindra- Renault. Such products sometimes get highly popular due to being a product which is manufactured by collectively using technologies of both the brands, but seldom such products face failures too. We must wait and watch to find out what happens to the upcoming vehicle.
