After the roll of the new BS6 emission norms, everyone is either upgrading their lineup or introducing new BS6 compliant cars, Mahindra is no behind. After the launch of the BS6 Bolero, Scorpio and XUV500 with new BS6 engines the company is ready to launch its top of the line SUV Alturas G4. Recently the company teased the BS6 vehicle on their website under the tag line ‘coming soon’.
For those who are not aware the Alturas is the rebadged version of the Ssangyong G4 Rexton. Even so, both of them have the same engines but with a different state of tune. What could be the possible changes in the new offering from Mahindra? Lets Fing out.
Powertrains and Transmission | 2020 Mahindra Alturas G4
The SUV will be powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine capable of producing 181ps of power and nearly 420Nm of peak torque. The power output is slightly lower than the international Rexton G4 which produces 187ps.
The engine will be driving the wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission which is a generous help from Mercedes-Benz.
Design Cues
We expect the Alturas to get really subtle changes, probably which require an eagle eye to spot the difference. Keeping that aside, the SUV might get slightly different alloy wheels, front and rear bumper.
- On the inside, it has no changes what so ever. The car will continue to offer a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Dual-Zone Climate control, a Colored MID for the instrument cluster is also the part of the kit.
- Along with standard safety features the 2020 Alturas G4 also include an ESC (electronically stability programme), hill hold and descent control, 360° Camera.
Rivals
The 2020 Alturas G4 by the Indian carmaker pitches the car against the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, with cars following by many other brands in the future.
