Being flagship SUV of Tata since 2019, Harrier has it’s 2020 BS-6 diesel variant already on sale. Tata is expected to launch the petrol variant of Harrier by the end of 3rd quarter of 2020. Glimpses of 2020 petrol Harrier have already arrived as it was spotted at an emission testing setup, fitted with emission testing kit for checking it’s compliance with upcoming BS-6 norms imposed by GOI. According to reports, the harrier 2020 (petrol) is getting a 1.5-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine.
As we know, BS-6 norms are very strict for diesel vehicles, so, to cope up with this manufacturers have made several changes to their foregoing diesel engines, which in turn resulted in increased prices of new BS-6 diesel vehicles. With BS-6 emission norms, Sales figures for diesel vehicles has witnessed a large downfall in 1st quarter of 2020. Even the customer base of SUVs are shifting their interest towards petrol-engined cars instead of their previous choice of diesel engines.
For example, if we focus towards sales figures of Nexon, which is also a compact SUV from Tata, is getting it’s 70% buyer for petrol variant of the car, which indicates shifting interest of buyers of SUVs too.
