Following the footsteps of other American automobile marque and a division of the FCA Jeep, has started testing its forthcoming models ahead of there official launches as just recently a fully camouflaged test mule of the rumoured Jeep compass facelift was spotted testing on Indian roads by Zigwheels. certain reports also suggest that unlike the 2020 Jeep facelift recently launched in the US and Europe which features some mild cosmetic updates, the 2021 jeep compass facelift will support some comprehensive cosmetic update inside and out.
So let’s have a look at what all can we expect the all-new 2021 Jeep Compass to feature.
A New 1.3L Turbo-Petrol Engine
One of the major updates on the all-new 2020 Jeep will be under its hood as it is most likely to feature FCA’s brand-new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which will be offered in two-states- 130hp engine which comes paired to a 6-speed MT and a powerful 150hp engine mated to a Dual-clutch transmission. Although these new figures are on a lower end compared to its current 1.4-litre mill which is capable of generating just a little over 163hp.
There will also be a plug-in hybrid 4Xe variant which is currently reserved for the European markets but can make its debut in the Indian market. Additional the new Compass facelift will also be using a mildly tweaked 2.0-litre Multijet engine which generates 170hp while paired to a standard 6-speed and an optional automatic gearbox.
New and updated features
Although the test mule was heavily covered and could hardly spot any new additions, the only thing which was somewhat visible was its new 5-spoke alloy wheels. Additionally, we can expect the new age Jeep to support a completely redesigned front bumper, a new set of LED headlights and taillights along with new colour options as well.
On the inside, the new Jeep compass facelift is also expected to feature some subtle design upgrades including a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system will also support FCA’s new UConnect 5 with over 30 different connected features. However, the Indian spec new age compass will also come equipped with some additional must-have features which the previous model lagged like a branded sound system, ventilated front seats, and a digital instrument cluster to name a few.
The new compass will also take some ques out of its outgoing model which includes a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, cruise control, leather upholstery and six airbags.
Expected Price, launch and Rivals
We can expect the newly updated Jeep compass to hit Indian shores by the first quarter of 2021. It is also likely to come at a premium over the current model which starts from Rs 16.49 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
When launched, the new 2021 Jeep Compass facelift will rival the likes of the 2020 Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Karoq, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen T-ROC and the upcoming 2021 Citroen C5 AirCross.
