The Honda WR-V was recently discontinued in India along with the Jazz. Currently, Honda only has two cars on sale, City and Amaze. Both are sedans, which is not the best approach in an SUV-driven market. The latest 2022 Honda WR-V just launched in Indonesia and it may soon come to India! The latest WR-V brings along a host of changes that are surely welcome. The interior and the exteriors have been revamped and it now follows Honda’s global design language. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 Honda WR-V!

Design
The 2022 Honda WR-V follows a similar silhouette as before, but it is longer, taller, and wider. It is 4060mm long, 1780mm wide, and 1608mm tall. The wheelbase stands at 2485mm, making it considerably larger than before. This SUV is based on the Honda RS SUV that was showcased in 2021, and it looks much like a coupe-style SUV now. Apart from the larger size, the front grille has been redone and now gets a hexagonal shape. The front lights are connected via a chrome strip and the grille also has a fair amount of chrome. The taillights are now L-shaped and give the car a sporty look. With a 220mm ground clearance, the WR-V has a bit more road presence. Overall, the 2022 Honda WR-V now features a design more aligned with larger Honda SUVs such as the CR-V.

Features on the 2022 Honda WR-V
The new WR-V gets a host of new features. The most important one is Honda’s ADAS tech. This includes safety features like adaptive cruise, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, auto high beam, and much more. If launched in India, the WR-V will be the first car in the segment to offer ADAS. The primary competition, namely the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and the Kia Sonet currently do not have any kind of ADAS tech onboard.

The engine on the 2022 Honda WR-V
The WR-V gets a new naturally aspirated petrol engine. The older 1.2L unit had now been replaced by a 1.5L unit that makes around 120HP and 144nm. The same engine does duties on the Honda City as well. This means that this engine is already well-tested and reliability should not be a concern here. The transmission offered along with this is a 5-speed manual or a CVT. As a future-proof measure, the WR-V also gets an eHEV(hybrid) variant just like the City.

Why India needs this car
This car is perfectly suited for the Indian market and for Honda India as well. Currently, Honda has no SUV for India and everyone in India is looking for a tall car. The compact SUV segment where the WR-V sits has been booming and this Japanese SUV would be a fresh addition to the lineup. Honda is already looked upon as trustworthy, easy to maintain, and reliable and the WR-V also maintained a decent image during its time in India. Again, the 2022 Honda WR-V would be the first car in its segment to offer ADAS and a hybrid setup. If priced carefully, the WR-V can become a very attractive option for a lot of buyers. An ideal price for this car would be between Rs. 14-16 lakhs. As of now, there’s been no communication from Honda about the launch of the WR-V.
