The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is one of the most awaited & hyped launches this year. We also have a plethora of spy shots and scoops that have revealed many things about the car for the past 3 years. But with all this scattered information, it becomes quite a task to watch out for everything related to this rugged SUV. We made things easier as we organized and gathered every piece of information related to the upcoming 2022 Mahindra Scorpio, from Exterior and Interior, to new features added!
New Scorpio 2022: Butch Exterior Styling
The 2022 Scorpio, in its current-gen avatar, is already a butch-looking SUV with many elements to prove this. It is expected to carry on the new-gen Scorpios design language. It will be more of an evolution rather than a revolution.
It will be bigger in terms of size, which translates into more space on offer on the inside, and at the same time, retain the boxy and upright stance of the current model.
A revised front fascia with a bulkier grille, C-shaped LED headlamps with LED DRLs adjacent to the bumper, fresher styling, higher stance, an overall boxy design, are other key features of the new car.
Scorpio 2022 will be based on ladder on frame platform of the Thar.
From leaks, the tire size looks like 18” alloy rims on higher variants, while lower ones get 17” steel rims.
A fun thing to note is that the LED DRLs spied were not integrated into the headlights; instead, they were beside the front grille!
New 2022 Scorpio Gets Premium Interior & Additional Features!
Interior of the 2022 Scorpio will be reworked entirely by designers at Mahindra to give it a fresher appeal. The dashboard will be completely re-designed from the inside to update itself in line with the competition, with an enhanced premium feel for the passengers and the driver.
Talking about premium-ness(is that even a word!), spy shots suggest that Mahindra has been generous with soft-touch materials. However, it will carry on the forward-facing third-row seats, which may reduce the safety rating of the SUV. (Just like it earlier did with Thar).
Other leaks suggest that the Scorpio will be equipped with several modern-day features such as a 360-degree camera, an 8-speaker setup sourced from Sony, ADAS system, HUD, a vertical and bigger Hector style touchscreen system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a fully automatic climate control system, and the favorite feature of us Indians – The Sunroof! (However, only a single pane)
Powertrain Options are a delight to an off-road enthusiast!
The 2022 Scorpio will have a tested engine borrowed from the Thar. A standard 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic will offer a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 2.0-liter Petrol Engine. Diesel variants might be only offered as a 4×4. Tuning of the engine might be altered for the Scorpio as well.
The new Scorpio is expected to be an off-roader’s delight! It will have a 4×4 drivetrain with a “shift-on-the-fly” system and an improved suspension system. This will enable it to tackle bad roads in its stride! In fact, Mahindra is doing full-on off-road tests in extreme conditions. These include high-altitude places like Ladakh and the sand dunes of Rajasthan!

The Scorpio might be unveiled on 14th August 2022!
Although the Scorpio was supposed to launch last year, we might as well forgive Mahindra, considering it satisfied us with the XUV 700 after so much anticipation! Mahindra generally launches its cars near historic days, such as Independence day. It had unveiled the XUV 700 on 14th August last year, and it might just do so with the facelift of the Scorpio.
