Ford recently rolled out the last unit of the EcoSport from the manufacturing plant in India. With this, all Ford operations in India have officially closed. While Ford has put a pause on the Indian market, they have been launching new cars globally. One of these cars is the 2023 Ford Edge. The 2023 Ford Edge looks stunning. It looks sort of similar to the Mahindra XUV700, but much better. The new-gen Edge that was launched in China comes as a 7-seater, as opposed to the 5-seater variant sold in the US. The SUV looks like it’s meant to be a comfortable people carrier. It would’ve made a very good alternative to the Toyota Innova that is currently ruling the segment. At almost 5m long, the 2023 Ford Edge would also have been one of the most spacious and roomy cars in the segment!

The engine on the 2023 Ford Edge
The engine is the one part that would have not faired too well in India. Not because of performance, but because of efficiency. The 2023 Ford Edge gets a 2L petrol engine that makes 238HP. Yes, this is much higher than the MG Gloster and the Toyota Fortuner as well. However, a petrol engine that is so powerful, and which runs a big SUV would be very low on mileage.

Why will India miss the 2023 Ford Edge?
Apart from being much more premium than the XUV700 or the Tata Safari, the Edge is also much more powerful and comfortable. Even if the prices were around Rs. 40 Lakhs, the Edge would have been a good option for people looking at the Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan, and the Jeep Meridian. Since the car will not be coming to India, pondering over expected pricing is of no use.
