2024 Nissan X-Trail Officially Teased: India Launch Confirmed

The luxury SUV X-Trail is set to launch soon in India. Nissan Motor India has shared a new teaser for it. Their website displays the front grille and light. The official tweet made by Nissan India states, “An SUV that invokes passion, love and admiration around the globe. Coming soon to India. Keep watching this space to know more.”

The teaser shows off some design details, like:

  • Two-tone alloy wheels
  • Large chrome Nissan’s signature V-motion front grille section with chrome inserts in honeycomb grille.
  • LED daytime running lights same as the international version.
  • Wrap-around LED Tail lamps


  • Jeep Meridian
  • Skoda Kodiaq
  • Volkswagen Tiguan

Platform and Dimensions:

The 2024 Nissan X-Trail will be based on the CMF-C/D platform, also used by Nissan Qashqai, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Renault Megane. Nissan has jointly developed this platform with Renault.

The dimensions of the international version of X-Trail are:

  • Length – 4,680mm
  • Width – 1,840mm
  • Height – 1,725mm
  • Wheelbase – 2,705mm.

Engine and Gearbox:

Engine: A 1.5-litre, inline 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with mild hybrid technology is expected.

Power: 201 Ps

Troque: 330Nm

Transmission expected: CVT

The powertrain is expected to be offered in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.



The 2024 Nissan X-Trail is expected to offer features like:

  • Front seat heating and memory function
  • A large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system as that in the global versions
  • Three-zone climate control
  • A 10-speaker premium Bose sound system
  • Multifunction steering wheel
  • Wireless charging
  • Head-up display

The 2024 Nissan X-Trail is expected to be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 35 lakh.

History of X-Trail in India

It was sold in India from the years 2005–2014. It was also CBU at the time. Its prices were higher than that of its main rivals. This included cars like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Renault Koleos. The launch of the X-Trail in India did not have a good response, therefore it was discontinued by Nissan in 2014. Despite being an excellent vehicle it was ahead of its time.

Our Take on the Launch

We think this would be better for Indian Automobile market to have different car options available. Competitions allow for improvement in the existing car market. The introduction of the 2024 Nissan X-trail will open some doors for Japanese car manufacturer in India. Hyundai’s SantaFe has also gone through a major generation upgrade in international market. Let us see what direction Hyundai takes along with other automakers towards SUV segment going forward.
