This is what we call luck at its best and indeed a rare instance where a carmaker has to close bookings for a product a week before its official launch and price announcement. Then British and now Chinese auto giant MG has temporarily closed the on-going bookings fo its first all-electric SUV the MG ZS EV.
The reason for the same has been stated as the MG ZS EV has managed to grab over 2,000 bookings in less than a month since MG announced the opening of the pre-booking season on December 21, 2019.
Well, the number of bookings received for an electric vehicle in India is quite impressive. MG. The official launch for the MG ZS EV has been scheduled for January 27th 2020.
Only then the exclusive pricing and the first set of buyers will be revealed by the company. Rumour also has it that prices for the ZS EV could be revised after which the bookings for the ZS EV could be reopened.
Just to give you a gist on the mechanical front the MG ZS EV supports a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack which eventually generates 143hp and 353Nm of peak torque. All the power is then transferred to the front wheel via its single-speed automatic gearbox.

The MG ZS EV also holds an ARAI certified range of 340km over a single charge. The active feature list on the EV includes keyless entry/go, 17-inch alloy wheels with electronic parking brakes, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the list goes on.
MG has also 50kW DC charges at select dealerships which have the capability of charging the EV from 0-80% in a matter of 50 minutes. However, MG will also provide a 7.4kW AC charger along with a portable charging cable with the vehicle which can be used with any 15A electric socket in case of any emergencies.
