Nissan is gearing up to compete with the big boys in the compact SUV segment dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 even the upcoming Renault Kiger. There have been reports that Nissan might price the Magnite below Rs 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs which is sure to steal some sales off the segment leaders. The Nissan Magnite will ditch the Diesel, Petrol only
Yes, the upcoming Nissan Magnite will ditch the diesel engine but will feature a turbocharged petrol motor. The base variant of the Magnite will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine (from the Triber) churning 72hp and 96Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an optional AMT.

The higher-spec Magnite model will get a new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged-petrol engine good for 95hp. This engine will feature either a 5-speed manual or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
A good feature to price ratio
The upcoming Magnite will get a kit full of great features. Features like a 360-degree camera, Connected car technology (borrowed from its sibling; Kicks), automatic climate control, sunroof, LED DRLs, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, two-tone paint scheme and much more.
Aggressive pricing compared to the competition
According to some reports, the Magnite will start at a price tag of just Rs 5.25 lakhs for the base variant. The top-variant turbocharged CVT could be priced a shy below Rs 6 lakhs. Such aggressive pricing could seriously steal some potential buyers from segment leaders like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which is priced in the Rs 7.34 to 11.15 lakh range and the Hyundai Venue (Rs 6.70-11.35 lakh).
